Hi Everyone my name is Maggy and I started making soap a couple of years ago as I was tired with having to buy hand cream and body moisturizer all the time as my skin was so dry. I was amazed at the difference using hand made soap made to my skin.
Over time I now have my favourite blends. I love trying out different perfumes.
To complement my soaps I started making soy candles and these have proved to be very popular, they have a very long life and are very easy to use as they don’t drip and do not become hot. The secret is to make sure that the first time they are lit the top layer is all melted.
My love of sewing has now started me on another tack and I make cushions, pin cushions, aprons and things for the kitchen. I like to use old fabrics, linens, lace and old beautifully embroidered table cloths that have been sadly misused over time.
These all change depending as to what I have on hand.
My work shop is in my home which overlooks the Kaipara Harbour and I share this with two dogs, Meg an English spaniel who is now 13, and Monti a trade me special who is 4. Also sharing my home is Morgan a ginger cat who was rescued from a river as a kitten 14 years ago and Max who again was rescued this time from a drain two years ago.
